Régie du Bâtiment du Québec is an agency of the Government of Quebec that sets regulations and rules that ensure the safety and quality of construction projects in Quebec. Before any construction project can take place, construction contractors, like us, must acquire a licence by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), unless exempted by law. We must work in compliance with the Government of Quebec and have done so in the past to ensure that each and every construction project is handled with care to ensure safety, quality and legal compliance.
In Quebec, a contractor who wants to sell or build a new residential building must meet two conditions:
- Must be accredited by Garantie de construction résidentielle (GCR).
- Must hold a Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) contractor licence with at least one of subclass 1.1.1 or 1.1.2.
Garantie de construction résidentielle (GCR) is an independent non‑profit organization that administers 5-year guarantees for new residential buildings in Quebec. GCR’s mission is to not only keep homebuyers and contractors safe in their efforts to build new residential properties, but also to improve the quality of residential construction.
To improve construction quality, GCR uses the continuous improvement approach, encouraging contractors to adopt best practices with risk management, project management and activity‑based management. As a leader in residential Quebec construction, Garantie de construction résidentielle is also known to be completely neutral, transparent, and accountable.
